Is Jesus God

Is Jesus God?

We know that the Father is the one true God, for Jesus Himself testified that it is so, John 17:3.

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

Is Jesus GodBut in believing that truth, many discredit the notion that Jesus is also God, but Jesus was begotten of the Father [Psalm 2:7; John 1:14], that is He was brought forth or born of the Father [John 8:42, 16:28; Proverbs 8:24], and it is because He is of the Father that He has all the attributes of the Father, being “the fulness of the Godhead bodily” Colossians 2:9, and is rightly called God.

The Father Himself confirms this to be so.

We note in Hebrews 1:8 where the Father is addressing His Son, and whom He clearly calls God.

“But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.” Hebrews 1:8

The Father is very clearly calling His Son “God” in this verse, and He continues in verse 9.

“Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

The Father again addresses His Son as God, He says “therefore God”, when He could just as well have said “therefore My Son”. And then the Father says to His Son: “even your God has anointed thee…” Which means “I am your Father and I have anointed you…”

So this verse could be rendered as follows. (Therefore my Son, you are God, and I am your Father, and your God, and I have anointed you with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.)

And verse 10 surely confirm to all that have eyes to see and ears to hear that Jesus is God, notice very carefully that this is still the Father talking to His Son.

“And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:”

It was by the very hands of Jesus Christ that all things were made, both in heaven and on earth, the Father is the source of all things, but all things were made through Jesus Christ.

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” Colossians 2:9

That is all the divinity that is required to be God, He is begotten (born) of the Father, and as the Father is divine, so too is the Son.

“But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” I Corinthians 8:6

Lets break this verse down.

To us Christians there is but “One God” (Mal 2:10) the Father “Of whom are all things” The Father is the source, the originator of all things, and we in Him (Acts 17:28), and one Lord Jesus Christ (John 13:13) by whom are all things, (by whom all things are made John 1:3)

So all things are made by the Father, through the Son, and for the Son.

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:” Colossians 1:16

So there is One true God; the Father, and His divine Son; who by His hand were all things made, so there are two divine, and very distinct persons in heaven, the Father and His Son.

In the beginning the Father said to His Son: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” Genesis 1:26

“For He Spoke and it was done” (Psalm 33:9)

It was done by His Son!
